H.E.R.O. For A Day :)

Volunteering is one of the most instantly gratifying experiences. Period. My LS and Bestie @Elle1913 suggested we join her annual volunteer efforts with HERO For Children’s HERO for a Day, a non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of children living with HIV/A.I.D.S. Once a year, they gather volunteers, all the HERO children, and host a day of FUN, FUN, FUN!  Saturday was an awesome afternoon with the kids… and several super soakers!

Volunteers arrived early morning throughout the afternoon and were paired with several amazing kids and divided into groups for several hours of organized outdoor activities. There was sack racing, bean bag tosses, a soccer run and 3-legged relay race, all before breaking for lunch!! After the Chick-Fil-A, snow cones and cotton candy were scarfed, kids of all ages *raises hand* got to run amuck on the inflatable play areas.

We had a ball!!! It was truly a joy to meet these bright young people and spend the day unearthing my inner 10-year old, all in the name of service! Special thanks to everyone at HERO – I’ll be sure to return next year.
