The REUNION Tour Rocks Chastain Park

Saturday night Atlantans enjoyed the REUNION concert featuring the Isley Brothers, El DeBarge, and Carl Thomas. Hosted by Idris Elba, a packed crowd (most brought their own food & drink-love that option), filled Chastain Park to close the summer with an amazing concert!

Carl Thomas opened the show donning a questionable track suit with a suit & tie beneath. Um… Carl, it was 95 degrees, sir you looked hot. He sounded ah-mazing however, crooning hit after “Emotional” hit, all in perfect pitch and confidence.  El DeBarge, R&B legend and music industry vet proved his sex appeal never left performing a range of hits from “I Like It”, “Time Will Reveal,” the SWITCH cover “There Will Never Be,” to his latest single “Second Chance.” He also played the keyboards and brought out his (fiyone) brother Chico DeBarge to perform the hit “Iggin’ Me” and the crowd went wild.

Headliners the Isley Brothers (remaining Ernie & Ronald) took the stage with a full-band, (3) dancers, and stool for Ronald (he’s too cool to run around the stage). They played hit after timeless hit delighting the crowd full of lovers, evident by the slow grinds & cheers. The Isley Brother discography ranges from 1969 to the present and their classic singles provided many-a-sample loop. I had SUCH a great time jamming to hits “Voyage To Atlantis,” “Between The Sheets,” and “Hello” (They’re one of my FAV bands of ALL TIME, Craig)!!
